The RX500 Industrial Locomotive is the only new locomotive designed exclusively for the industrial switching market. It incorporates the first major redesign of the industrial locomotive since diesel replaced steam over 70 years ago. The RX500, with up to 50,000 pounds of tractive effort, is the tractive equivalent of the EMD SW 1000/1200 or the GE 144 ton.
